The Birth of The Translation Layer: From Prospect Questions to a Global Guide

Handled translation in Salesforce Data Cloud

San Francisco, Feb 2025 — Sometimes the most impactful ideas are sparked by a single question. For Venizum founder and CEO Håkan Sjöberg, the seed for his new book, The Translation Layer: Enabling Global Communication in the Salesforce Ecosystem, was planted during a conversation with a prospect in March 2025.

The client had a pressing question: How should translations be handled in Salesforce Data Cloud, and what are the best practices for implementing them?

Sjöberg had his own ideas, drawn from years of building Venizum’s translation intelligence inside Salesforce. Yet when he reached out to his Salesforce contacts for validation, he discovered something striking — there was no clear, documented answer. Instead, Salesforce colleagues encouraged him: “This could be something really valuable to bring forward.”

That encouragement became the catalyst. “I went home that evening, started sketching out my thoughts, and quickly realized it wasn’t just an article or a white paper,” Sjöberg recalls. “It was a massive, layered subject. The only way to do it justice was in book form.”

The result is The Translation Layer, a comprehensive guide that reframes translation not as an afterthought but as infrastructure for the modern Salesforce enterprise. Drawing on Venizum’s expertise, the book maps out how AI, LLMs, XLIFF workflows, glossary governance, and secure architecture can transform multilingual readiness from a bottleneck into a growth enabler.

From its spontaneous beginning in a prospect meeting, the book has grown into what Sjöberg calls “a roadmap for building translation-native enterprises.” It is designed for architects, product leaders, and executives who want to embed translation deep into Salesforce systems — turning global communication into a competitive advantage
