AI and LLM Impact on the Translation Industry

Introduction

Translation Memory (TM) is evolving from a passive database into an active, intelligent component of the translation workflow.

Instead of only storing past translations, TM now plays a critical role in optimizing AI-driven translation.

  • Continuously updated through usage and feedback
  • Can be automatically improved with scoring and validation mechanisms
  • Should be applied before invoking LLM translation

By resolving known translations upfront, organizations reduce cost, improve consistency, and minimize unnecessary AI processing.

Agnostic Translation Engine Strategy

The future of translation is not tied to a single engine. Instead, leading organizations are adopting an agnostic, multi-engine strategy.

This approach allows businesses to dynamically choose the best engine for each use case—without losing control over terminology or context.
